Marcos: Gov’t won’t tolerate disrespect of PH sovereignty

NAVAL OPERATING BASE, Subic, Zambales, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday reiterated that the government will “never tolerate any act of disrespect” against the country’s sovereignty.
He made this statement during his speech at the Philippine Navy’s 127th founding anniversary celebration, held under the theme: “Philippine Navy: Addressing Challenges, Promoting Regional Stability, and Strengthening Maritime Security.”
“Despite the tension in our region, our navy remains steadfast,” he said in Filipino.
“We stand firm. We will never tolerate any act of disrespect against our sovereignty,” the president added.

Marcos emphasized that his administration would continue to safeguard the Philippine maritime zones and exercise deterrence in accordance with international law.
“Wala tayong papapabayaan. (We will not neglect anything.) We reaffirm our commitment to being responsible members of the international community, engaging in all matters diplomatically, and upholding the established principles of international law,” he said.
“This obligation is reflected in our proactive and sustained engagement in international defense and security efforts,” Marcos added.

Prior to his speech, Marcos led the commissioning rites of the BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06) and BRP Albert Majini (PG909).
The BRP Miguel Malvar (FFG06) features advanced sensors and weapon systems and is designed for long-range, multi-role combat operations.
BRP Albert Majini (PG909), meanwhile, is the first locally assembled missile-capable patrol vessel in the Philippines.
This vessel was built for rapid interdiction and coastal operations under the PN’s Littoral Combat Force. /dl
