MANILA, Philippines — Three individuals were arrested for allegedly stealing P1-million worth of diamonds and cash from an Indian trader at a San Juan City restaurant, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said on Saturday.
The businessman had just finished his meal at the restaurant along Connecticut Street on Wednesday evening when the three suspects grabbed and dragged him into their vehicle, according to the Eastern Police District (EPD).
“Suspects physically abused and threatened to kill him. [He] was discriminately dropped along the road located at Barangay Santa Lucia, San Juan City. Criminals fled the scene and initially evaded capture,” the EPD said in a statement.
After the foreigner reported the incident to the police, authorities traced the suspects to a location in Barangay 807, San Andres Bukid, Manila, the NCRPO said in a separate statement.
The EPD identified the suspects “Jamal,” “Mohammad,” and “Machol.”
Authorities recovered 30 sealed plastic sachets containing diamonds and their certifications papers, as well as P130,000 in cash, the EPD said.
