PH and EU commit to strong security cooperation
MANILA, Philippines — Foreign Affairs chief Enrique Manalo met the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas on Monday for a high-level dialogue.
In a statement, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the two reaffirmed the strong and growing partnership between the Philippines and the European Union during the meeting.

According to the DFA, both sides recognized the growing complexity of security threats, agreeing to enhance their cooperation and announce the establishment of a Security and Defense Dialogue.
“The dialogue addresses the current geopolitical challenges and will foster exchanges and cooperation in security and defense areas, including maritime security, cybersecurity, hybrid threats, foreign information manipulation, and interference,” said the DFA, quoting Kallas.

Secretary Manalo, meanwhile, underscored that strengthening Philippines-EU security cooperation is a step in the right direction.
Kallas’ official visit to the Philippines followed her appointment in December 2024. /cb
