Marcos congratulates newly elected South Korean president

MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday congratulated newly elected South Korean President Lee Jae-Myung and said he looks forward to strengthening ties between the two countries.
In a social media post, Marcos said, “On behalf of the Filipino people, I congratulate Lee Jae-Myung on his election as President of the Republic of Korea.”

“The Philippines values its deep and enduring ties with the ROK and I look forward to working with him to further strengthen the Strategic Partnership between our two countries,” he also said.
Lee was sworn in as South Korea’s president on June 4, after a snap election held six months after the previous leader imposed martial law and caused unrest in the country. /das
